Mobifetch is the digital promotion platform connecting consumers
with marketers at merchants' points of sale. The vision behind the Mobifetch service is to help digitize the 300 billion coupons issued annually in the US.
How Does It Work?
Mobifetch features client applications for marketers and consumers; and a server application
for controlled distribution, secure electronic redemption and processing of digital coupons.
Consumers use NFC-enabled USB dongles or mobile phones to find, store and redeem coupons. A highly
performing keyword-based search system allows them to remotely fetch coupons either
from mobile phone-based standalone wallet
instances or browser's -based dashboards or even partnering portals.
The search functionality is based on a proprietary mCouponRank algorithm
which utilizes user location, product price, coupon category, face value and
other parameters to list available coupons from the Mobifetch Network.
The search feature may also include targeted yet relevant mobile banners
displayed in a non-intrusive manner on their devices' screens.
The fetch functionality also includes scanning in-store or outdoor 2D barcodes and radio tags from their mobile phones.
Tags and barcodes, which contain encoded URLs for retrieving coupons, would be generally embedded in product packages, traditional media
or interactive smart posters.
Consumers redeem coupons by just tapping their NFC-enabled devices on contactless terminals at participating merchant locations.
Merchants participate in the Mobifetch program by installing new NFC terminals or by leveraging already installed terminals for accepting contactless payment cards (MasterCard PayPass, Visa Paywave, etc...)
Optionally, the Mobifetch program could also be linked to their existing loyalty programs.
A thin client software module is installed in each POS station in their stores and a thin server software module is deployed within their local networks. The optimized thin client software module allows to redeem coupons over the NFC layer while the thin server software module authorizes coupon transactions in real-time via the Mobifeth Network. The thin server software may use their existing payment processors' gateways or could be directly connected to the Mobifetch Network.
Merchants benefit from a higher deduction fee per coupon and a faster handling and reimbursement of their coupon transactions.
Marketers provide coupon campaign information from web-based dashboard or other communication tools.
The preferred dashboard transmission tool includes coupon campaign publishing,
management (stop/pause/cancel,...) and real-time analytical data reports. Marketers are guaranteed
the uniqueness of each coupon thanks to an enhanced EPC-based data structure capable of
supporting over 68 billion coupons for a single coupon campaign.
Support for GS1 DataBar is also available. Real-time electronic coupon authorization, clearing and settlement are
incorporated as integral parts of the life cycle of digital coupons.
Marketers who issue manufacturer or store coupons, pay only for coupons that are redeemed. We call this business model Pay-Per-Redemption (PPR). The interactive fetch technology allows them to engage in real-time with consumers, establishing and maintaining thus a unique and compelling one-to-one relationship with them.
The following diagram illustrates Mobifetch's architecture.
