Launch
of "Sponsor-A-Tree" Program on Earth Day 2009
Tucson, Arizona - April
22, 2009 - Contactless Data, Inc., operating the NFC-based digital
couponing solution Mobifetch, is proud to announce that it has teamed
up with American Forests to promote continuing environmental
conservation. Through the Mobifetch paperless coupon platform,
Contactless Data is launching the "Sponsor-A-Tree" program, marking a
critical step towards reducing the number of trees being cut down,
the amount of paper waste in landfills, and emitted carbon dioxide
into Earth's atmosphere.
With over 100 million trees cut
down annually for distributing direct mail and coupons in the US
alone, a digital coupon is the green answer for environment-friendly
marketers, consumers, and merchants. "Over 300 billion coupons are in
fact distributed each year, using a huge amount of paper," notes
founder Ismaila Wane. "Mobifetch enables the entire life cycle of the
coupon to be digital, from distribution to redemption and processing,
saving trees and waste. Putting a sustainable, technology based
solution to work is not only responsible, but is vital to our quality
of life as citizens of planet Earth."
Earth Day 2009 is a great time
to stop and think about what it means to be green. Contactless Data
is committing to help plant one tree for every digital coupon
keychain acquired, helping American Forests reach its goal of 100
millions planted trees by 2020. Whenever a consumer acquires a
keychain, he or she will automatically sponsor a tree, adding new
life to the ecosystem. By reusing the keychain i.e. redeeming digital
coupons, the sponsor is making sure the tree will grow and flourish. This
strong commitment by consumers, if viral, could accelerate the
reduction of total number of paper coupons in circulation.
The digital coupon keychain will
be available in the market around Christmas 2009.
